Saying Goodbye To Your Bad Habits

The time for laying down in bed, watching Netflix, and binge-eating is over. The world seems to be returning back to its normal state and so, you should also be prepared to move forward in sync. And that means dropping all your bad habits.

So, are you ready to make this change?

Here are some of the toxic habits you might be engaging in, either intentionally or unintentionally.

1. Talking Negatively About Yourself

So you made a mistake at work and now you can’t stop thinking about it? Throughout the day, you’re thinking to yourself, ‘how dumb can I be to make a mistake like this?.’ Or you’re hanging out with your friends and you make a joke about yourself that paints you a negative light–and now all you can do is rue your mistake.

Negative self-talk is extremely dangerous for your self-esteem and your life, even if it’s done for the sake of humor. Instead, try focusing on improving yourself by giving yourself a pep talk and working on shifting your focus from negative to positive thoughts.

2. Not Being Yourself

Have you noticed yourself pretending to be someone else when hanging around a certain group of people? Most people would refer to this as you trying to fit in but if you are forcing yourself to be someone you aren’t, you’re doing yourself a great disservice. This is a toxic, habit that might not seem as dangerous but it targets your individuality and discourages you from embracing yourself fully. For this new year, focus on loving yourself, just the way you are.

3. Worrying About Things Out of Your Control

It’s natural to worry about things, especially when you want them to turn out the way you want. It is also important to note that there are some things that you just can’t change. Just like the hands of time, you can’t magically turn everything into your favor, so why spend hours worrying and stressing about them? Learn to let go of things that are damaging to your mental health and your inner peace–your peace of mind is much more important than whatever it is that’s keeping you up at night.

These are some of the toxic habits that you might be holding on to. But you can always change for the better!
