The idea of meeting that perfect soul who makes you laugh while also making every public outing fun and eventful is the stuff of dreams. Once you do manage to stumble across that special someone who you’re attracted to, the stakes are even higher as you make your move to woo him/her.

While it’s true that men are largely attracted by visual cues, lucky for them, women tend to be a little more forgiving when it comes to the opposite gender’s appearance and wardrobe choices. That does not mean we automatically have a get-out-of-jail card when it’s time to choose the right dress for your first date—after all, what’s worse than striking out on your very first opportunity?
A Brand New Dress Just for the Occasion
If you’ve found yourself hitting a dead end when going through your closet, we could give you a pass for going on a shopping spree and buying a brand new dress. In other instances, however, it’s advisable to go with something you’ve already tried in the past and are comfortable wearing.
For all you know, your brand new gown might be too tight to sit in or the neckline might be too revealing to allow you to really let loose and have a good time. After all, it would be a real shame to spend the entire night adjusting your dress instead of giving your undivided attention to your significant other.

Too Much Makeup
Brands like L’Oreal and Armani Beauty might have had us believe that it’s almost a crime to step outside without 12 layers of makeup on, but if you really want to come across as a genuine person, that could be counterintuitive.
Although we won’t judge you for covering up a pimple or plumping your lips with lip gloss to make them seem more kissable, it’s important not to go overboard. While it’s important to wear makeup for comfort and self-confidence, generally speaking, less is definitely more.

Anything That Clashes with Your Personality
If we’ve learned anything from our dating experiences, it’s that men and women want their dates to be themselves and comfortable during their time together. After all, the fact that two of you are on that all-important first date means he/she has already taken a liking to you, so there’s no need to try too hard or go overboard. If you think a pair of oversized jeans best describe your personality, then they’re exactly what you should wear.
