Usain Bolt, the fastest man on Earth, has found himself amid controversy over an alleged financial scam by a local private investment firm in Jamaica. The scandal has rocked the Jamaican financial system, caused Bolt to lose significant money, and prompted legal action.
The Missing Money
An investment firm based in Jamaica, known as 'JMBS Investments,' allegedly scammed Bolt’s business partner of over USD 5.4 million in 2018, which included funds meant for Bolt's investments. Bolt's business manager, Nugent Walker, revealed that the Jamaican sprinter's money was invested through JMBS, which promised high returns.

According to a statement by Bolt, he did not know about the fraud scheme and only became aware when his bank notified him of suspicious withdrawals from his account.
Reaction From Bolt and His Business Manager
Bolt has since been vocal about the alleged fraud, stating that he felt blindsided and let down by the firm. In a statement made in 2020, Bolt expressed, “As an athlete, I know how important it is to plan for the future and to invest wisely, and this news is very upsetting for me." In addition, Bolt's business manager, Walker, called for swift action and requested that the government launch an investigation into the matter.
Threatened Legal Action by Lawyers
Local lawyers in Jamaica have also spoken out, with reports suggesting that Bolt and his business partner may take legal action against the investment firm. Sources suggest that the Jamaican government announced it would provide legal assistance to the sprinter and his partner as they navigate the legal process.
